Which file types are supported?

Document translation supports DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, UTF-8 TXT, and text-based PDF files. PPTX and XLSX are returned in their original editable format; TXT and PDF translations export as DOCX. Audio translation supports MP3, WAV, M4A, and MP4 recordings.

What does DOCX structure preservation mean?

Paragraphs, real Word tables, headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes, and comments are retained where the document exposes them safely. Fields, equations, content controls, and hyperlink paragraphs are protected rather than rewritten. Inline styling inside a translated paragraph may be consolidated because translated word order and length can change.

What is translated in PowerPoint and Excel files?

PowerPoint translation covers editable slide paragraphs, speaker notes, and editable chart-title text. Excel translation covers every non-empty text cell on visible and hidden worksheets. Formulas, numbers, dates, booleans, errors, hyperlinks, sheet names, slide order, layouts, media, charts, and embedded objects remain structurally unchanged.

Why does a translated PDF not keep the original layout?

Byleron reads the selectable text layer and creates a new editable DOCX. It does not reproduce fonts, columns, figures, images, or exact page design. Repeated headers and footers are filtered when they can be identified, but multi-column reading order still requires review.

Quality and terminology

Use styles and preferred terms to keep translations consistent.

3
How do preferred terms work?

Add one source term and its preferred translation per line—for example, “artificial intelligence → AI” or “large language model → LLM”. These terms guide the translation consistently.

Which translation style should I choose?

Choose Faithful for interviews, instruments, and wording-sensitive material; Academic for natural scholarly prose; and Publication polish for a more fluent draft intended for later author review. No mode removes the need to verify meaning and specialist terminology.

How are references and citations handled?

Reference sections are detected from multilingual headings and, in DOCX files, relevant Word paragraph styles. Citation markers, DOIs, URLs, locators, and numerical expressions are protected during translation. Unusual reference headings or manually formatted bibliographies may still need checking.

Audio, privacy, and history

Know what audio translation produces and how saved work is handled.

3
What does Audio Translation create?

Audio Translation creates an original-language transcript and a translated text version. Each is available as DOCX and TXT. It does not create synthesized translated audio, and the temporary download links expire automatically.

What is kept in History?

History lets you reopen completed text, document, rewrite, correction, and recent audio tasks owned by your account. Document sources are stored in protected private storage; audio download files are temporary. Delete material you no longer need and avoid uploading data you are not permitted to process.

What happens if a translation is interrupted?

Document translation is resumable and completed blocks are not translated twice. For pasted text, any blocks completed before a later error are shown so they are not lost. You can retry when the service is available.
